Michelle McBeath is an experienced criminal defence lawyer. She has dedicated her career to criminal defence work. Michelle has successfully defended many clients. She has had success at trials, arguing that her clients' Charter rights have been violated and negotiating with the Crown Prosecution office.
Michelle takes a team approach to the defence of her clients. Michelle's team has appeared before the Court of Appeal of Alberta and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has successfully argued appeals, including for charges of sexual assault against children. Michelle has assisted in obtaining bail for a client charged with murder with over 60 prior convictions, 30 of which were for violence. Her knowledge of the law and work ethic to obtain these results are of the highest standard.
She has significant education and trial experience in the area of sexual assault. She has authored many successful Court applications for complex and very technical issues in sexual assault defences. She has used her focus on sexual assault law and her career as a foundation to develop a very strong defence practice.
Michelle has successfully defended against various criminal charges, including major sexual assault, sexual interference, voyeurism, break and enter, theft, drug possession, firearm offences and various assault charges from simple assault to assault causing bodily harm - particularly in the area of domestic violence.
