Maurice C. Collard

Red Deer, Stettler

Maurice Collard is an experienced and successful criminal defence lawyer who has aggressively defended some of the most high profile cases in Central Alberta and is a founding member of Advocate Law. He began his career as a criminal defence lawyer in Red Deer and then moved to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office as the youngest prosecutor. He became the longest-serving active Crown Prosecutor in Central Alberta.

Andrew D. Phypers

Andrew Phypers is one of the founding members of Advocate Law and an experienced criminal defence lawyer. He graduated with an honours degree from the University of Calgary in 2008 and achieved a Doctorate of Laws from the University of Alberta in 2012. He completed his article in 2013 with Denise Lightning, working in challenging jurisdictions including Maskwacis, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

Michael Cheung earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology in 2020. He later graduated from Thompson Rivers University, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2024. In law school, Michael worked for the TRU Community Legal Clinic and the Alberta Civil Liberties Centre, and helped run the TRU Professional Clothing Donation Society.
