Prior to law school, Laura Phypers earned a bachelor’s degree and graduated with Great Distinctions from the University of Lethbridge. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Calgary in 2019. Throughout law school, Laura worked with Advocate Law and has quickly become a formidable defence lawyer and a fierce advocate for her clients.
Laura has successfully defended all arrays of criminal matters including homicide and manslaughter. Having defended fraud charges, impaired operation, drug trafficking and drug possession charges, assault and aggravated assault, firearms offences, home invasion and robbery, Laura is ready to stand in your corner and take on your case.
Laura has brought many successful constitutional arguments where she has fought diligently to uphold our protected rights as Canadians. She truly believes that the law must be properly applied at all stages of the criminal Justice process. Laura has had evidence excluded on very serious charges and has successfully argued for serious criminal matters to be stayed as a result of a failure of police, or other state actors, to properly conduct themselves. Diligently upholding our Charter protected rights will promote a fair and equitable justice system moving forward, and all Canadians are afforded these rights regardless of their background.
She has also developed an interest in child welfare within her career. She is passionate about this area of law and has successfully had children returned to their families where state intervention was proven to be unwarranted.
